How It Works

One teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) per 10 gallons raises KH by approximately 1 dKH. KH buffers pH against swings — a KH below 3 dKH means your pH can crash dangerously. Add baking soda gradually over 24-48 hours, never raise KH more than 2 dKH per day to avoid shocking fish.
